The Savoy Hotels were once again awarded the Green Key by the Regional directorate for the Environment.
The Royal Savoy, Savoy Calheta beach and Savoy Gardens hotels were once more awarded the Green Key by the Regional Directorate for the Environment in recognition of their environmental sustainability.
The President of the Regional Government of Madeira was present at the event and highlighted the importance these awards have in qualifying Madeira as an environmental destination. Also present at the ceremony was the President of Associação Bandeira Azul da Europa who runs this initiative together with the Foundation for Environmental Education.
This award recognises good environmental practices being implemented in international hotels and restaurants to meet the demand for a greater environmental awareness felt in the sending tourism markets.
The criteria for testing are various and include an analysis of the quality of the water, hygiene, cleanliness, involvement of collaborators and customers, residue and energy, as well as inner and outer environment, parking lots and green areas.
