A star-flavoured dinner.
Having travelled to ‘the centre of the earth' and gone for a trip on a catamaran, the Stars Route 2016 now returns to Il Galo D’Oro for its first tasting dinner service.
Dinner was served by the talented chefs Michael Van der Kroft (2 Michelin Stars, t nonnetje, Netherlands), Julien Boutonnet (Best Pastry Chef in France 2015) and Christophe Renou (Valhrona School, France), and, naturally, Benoit Sînthon, the host chef.
An assorted menu offered guests various options. Chef Benoit Sînthon’s already customary Foie Gras is followed by Tuna with ginger, chives and black sesame seeds and a pumpkin and black truffles Risotto. Then there’s space for Scarlet Prawn with codfish and a chorizo oil conceived by Michael Van der Kroft and deer cooked by the host chef and his team.
For dessert, Christophe Renou’s Top Choc and Julien Boutonnet’s exotic mousse, true delicacies!
Tomorrow, the ones presenting their creations and showcasing the best of what is done in Portugal will be Dieter Koschima (2 Michelin Stars, Vila Joya, Algarve), Hans Neuner (2 Michelin Stars, Ocean) and Ruil Silvestre (1 Michelin Star, Bon Bon), accompanied by Frenchmen Julien Boutonnet and Christophe Renou.
And this is only the first of this gastronomic festival’s six stages as it tours many of the country’s Michelin Star-holding restaurants. Last year, for the first time ever, it went as far as the Spanish restaurant As Garzas in Galicia.
This year, it will once again visit our neighbour nation, being hosted by the Nectari restaurant in Barcelona, on the 5th and 7th of May. Other restaurants hosting the festival are The Yeatman (Oporto) in March, the Eleven (Lisbon), in June, the Bon Bon (Algarve) in October and the final destination in the Algarve, the Vila Joya, in November.
