This year, the traditional festivities held in honour of São Pedro in Ribeira Brava have a promising program.
Between June 28th and July 2nd, Ribeira Brava holds its traditional parades in honour of São Pedro, and this year the festival as whole promises to be quite good with guests such as Quim Barreiros, Santamaria, Paulo Gonzo and Vespas Live.
The evening of Thursday 30th, opens the festival stronger than ever with the iconic Quim Barreiros at playing his accordion at 10: 30 p.m. This artist born in Vila Praia de Âncora and very well-known to the Portuguese public will be playing his lively popular music themes such as ‘Garagem da Vizinha’, ‘Bacalhau à Portuguesa’ and ‘Cabritinha’. His addition to the program is a most welcome one.
On July 1st at 10:30 p.m. it will be EuroDance band, Santamaria’s turn. They are famous for their thirteen albums, filled with many successes such as ‘Eu sei, tu és’.
On the 2nd of July, stakes will be higher than ever due to Paulo Gonzo’s performance at 10:30 p.m. Founder of Go Graal Blues Band, this Blitz award-winning artist will delight the audience with some of his songs such as ‘Jardins Proibidos’, ‘Dei-te quase tudo’, ‘Lugares’, ‘Acordar’ and ‘Fora D´horas’.
Long nights lie in wait as Vespas Live occupies the stage to entertain in their very particular way of bringing life to popular festivities. Playing at the Vespas stage will be DJs Oxy, Ricardo Campos and Maurílio Freitas. Their different musical styles blend to create an amazing and lively atmosphere and they will be joined on stage by ‘Play Entertainment’ with Ledman, known in Portugal for its 6000 led lights.
As is typical in Madeiran Festivities, there will be food and beverages stalls and, at midnight, fireworks will light the skies above the town, by the seaside.
